The Gym, Elkins Park offers many services which are all designed to help our Members achieve their health, weight management, and fitness goals.
Every Annual Member has a choice of two free Membership Programs:
Face to Face Fitness Program
The Gym, Elkins Park was the first health club in PA to introduce the Face to Face (F2F) Fitness Program to our Members. The F2F Fitness Program has helped many thousands of members around the globe to realize their health and fitness goals. Our Certified F2F Trainers will provide you with the advice you want, and the support you need to achieve the results that you have always dreamt of!
The first few weeks of any new exercise program can be the most rewarding, but also the most challenging. Unlike other fitness centers, we do not just give you a workout card, walk you through once and after that, expect you to be able to exercise effectively on your own. Instead, we provide each New Member with ten half hour personal consultations during his/her initial year of Membership.
The ten F2F sessions will include a Health Profiling and Benchmarking, two Personal Training sessions, a Nutritional Advice and Healthy Eating consultation, and six follow-up Fitness Assessments. Members will also receive professionally prepared educational resources and their own New Member Kit.
Since the F2F Fitness Program is based on the latest health, fitness and nutrition techniques, plus we guide you every step of the way, you will achieve better results than with any other fitness membership. After completion of the F2F Fitness Program, you will be fully confident and comfortable with exercising effectively at our health club.
Ameri Shape Weight Management Program
For over fifteen years, Ameri Shape has successfully assisted thousands of its clients to achieve their weight management goals by teaching effective exercise techniques and providing proven nutritional guidance. Only the Ameri Shape Program uniquely combines both exercise and nutrition to accomplish what all the popular diets fail to do. Ameri Shape has designed a comprehensive nutrition and exercise program that will teach you how to attain a new healthy lifestyle.
The Ameri Shape “no-diet” system is easy and fun to follow, as thousands of clients, not unlike you, have completed the Ameri Shape Weight Management Program with remarkable success!
Similar to the F2F Program, we also provide the new Ameri Shape Member with ten consultations during the initial year of Membership with an Ameri Shape Weight Management Coach. The ten Ameri Shape sessions include a Health and Fitness Assessment; a comprehensive Nutritional Consultation; two Personal Training sessions; and six follow-up Fitness Assessments.
The Gym is proud to be selected as the only health club in our area to provide its Members with the Ameri Shape Weight Management Program.
Tanita Computerized Fitness Evaluation
For conducting all Member fitness evaluations, The Gym utilizes a Tanita Body Composition Analyzer (BCA), normally only found in medical and university athletic settings. Within 30 seconds from the start of the test, the Tanita measures 15 of your body’s vital fitness and health statistics such as body fat percentage, muscle mass, hydration level, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat, bone mass, metabolic age, physique rating etc. Your results are then printed, analyzed, and explained; copied given to you, stored in the computer for comparison to future assessments.
Thereafter, over the initial year of your Membership, we conduct six follow-up fitness assessments to ensure you are making progress towards achieving your health, weight management and fitness goals.

Personal Training
Our superior Personal Training Program is The Gym’s best Unstoppable Fitness Solution. Personal training at The Gym is hands down, the fastest way to achieve your health, weight management, and fitness goals. Your working with one of our Staff of Certified Personal Trainers will provide you with more effective, supervised and productive workouts.
The Gym’s Personal Training Program integrates nutrition, monitoring results, behavior modification, and goal setting, along with physical training to design a balanced total fitness solution that is guaranteed to get you the results you desire. There’s no better Personal Training program anywhere!
Boot Camp
The Gym’s Unstoppable Boot Camp Fitness Solution uniquely combines both body weight resistance, as well as specialized equipment in a tri-phase training protocol– warm up; strength and cardio; and flexibility and cool down, all in a single time efficient workout.
Our indoor and outdoor Boot Camps are awesome full body, group training sessions led by a Personal Trainer. Our Boot Camp targets ALL fitness areas including cardio, fat loss and weight loss, strength, agility, balance, and flexibility; all in an individual, enjoyable workout! No two Boot Camps are exactly the same. This results in a variety of fun, effective, never boring workouts.
A Boot Camp is suitable for just about anybody, as all exercises can be adjusted for every fitness level! Compared to working out on your own, a Boot Camp workout burns between 800 to 1000 calories or more than twice as many as a typical strength and cardio workout. Also, there’s nothing like the camaraderie of a Boot Camp which encourages achievement by all participants. You will accomplish “Twice the results, half the time!” All Fitness Members are are welcomed to try a free week of Boot Camp.
Goal Setting
For each of the first four months of Membership, you will choose your most important 30-day fitness goal and committing to it on a Goal Card. The procedure of actually writing a Goal Card, substantially increases the probability of achievement! After the initial four months, Goal Setting is then done on a quarterly basis.
TRX Suspension Training
TRX Suspension Training was conceived out of necessity by a Navy Seal to enable his fellow soldiers to train in remote areas without access to mainstream exercise equipment. TRX uses the trainer’s own weight and gravity as resistance to enable the trainer at every fitness level to obtain a safe and effective workout. TRX increases balance, coordination, strength, endurance, flexibility and core stability.
Unlike most traditional training methods, TRX mimics real life movements by engaging multi planes and angles of motion. Best of all, TRX Suspension Training is fun and available only at The Gym in the Group Exercise Studio for a nominal fee. If interested, please see the Front Desk for details.
SilverSneakers® Fitness Program
SilverSneakers offers an innovative blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially oriented programming that allows older adults to take greater control of their health. SilverSneakers Members at our fitness center receive:
- A free basic Membership with access to Group Exercise Classes, strength and cardiovascular equipment, sauna and other available amenities
- Access to the SilverSneakers national fitness center network throughout the U.S. while traveling
- Customized SilverSneakers classes designed exclusively for older adults who want to improve their strength, flexibility, balance and endurance
- Health education seminars and other events that promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle
- A specially trained Senior Advisor to introduce you to SilverSneakers and acquaint you with our fitness center
The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is a proven, results-oriented program that enables older adults, often burdened with chronic conditions, to take charge of their health and maintain an active, independent lifestyle.

Kid Fitt Youth Fitness Program
Our Kid Fitt is a supervised youth fitness exercise program for children ages twelve to sixteen that are interested in starting a healthy fitness lifestyle at an early age. Fitness goals for Kid Fitt are not unlike those for adults, such as weight management, increasing strength or improving sports performance. However, extra care must be taken to develop a suitable Youth Fitness Exercise Program that is effective, yet safe and does not stress normal bone and muscle growth during puberty. For more than five years, our Club has successfully trained many Kidd Fitt clients.
Group Exercise Classes
The Gym, Elkins Park conducts 20 to 25 Group Exercise Classes weekly. There are classes suitable for all levels of fitness and expertise. All classes are led by energetic and motivating Certified Instructors and held in a separate room within the Club. Our suspended flooring has been especially designed to be shock absorbing and easy on your joints.

Nutrition Counseling
In order to achieve your fitness goals, nutrition is equally as important as your training program. Both the two Membership Programs above includes a free consultation to insure your nutritional habits complements and supports your exercise program and weight management goal. We would also be pleased to answer any specific question regarding nutrition you may have.
Hydro Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and is also one of the best antidotes for stress. It can relieve pain, help heal certain conditions, increase circulation and assist your body in maintaining a healthy balance. We offer a Hydro Massage bed which is the most powerful water massage bed in the world. Hydro Massage combines the soothing benefits of water, heat and massage in a single modality and allows the user to remain clothed and comfortably dry throughout their massage.
Sports Café
After your workout, its time to relax! What better way than to enjoy a rejuvenating smoothie or protein shake with friends while watching the latest sports action in thrilling wide-screen High Definition TV.
Our Sports Café offers a variety of delicious real fruit Smoothies, protein shakes, mineral water, fruit juices, a variety of energy drinks, healthy energy bars and protein cookies. Smoothies and protein shakes taste great, are good for you, and can serve as a meal replacement.
